A great day to be wearing Brooklyn gear

Everyday since I've been at school in Hoboken I have seen at least one other person representing the Brooklyn Nets with either a new shirt or a new hat. I personally have 4 hats (2 new jersey) 1 shirt 2 NJ jerseys and 1 pair of socks with me in college.

Yesterday I decided to wear the classic Brooklyn shirt with the alternate circle logo. As I walked down the streets of Hoboken I noticed two older men with Knicks apparel. They were talking about how excited they were to have Kidd and Camby and how they would rejuvenate the team (lol). I decided to make a snide remark and said something about Kidd and Camby using walkers. They got pretty angry and of course started mocking the Nets and that we will always be a joke franchise. I started arguing for a bit, but there is really point trying to sway their beliefs. I left proud that I supported my team and that an 18 year old kid could hold his own in a basketball argument against two older men.

The day got much better. I was getting some food at around 11 PM so it was rather quiet. As I ordered my food the nice lady preparing it noticed my shirt. She asked if I was just wearing it for style or if I actually followed the Nets. I told her that I am a huge Nets fan and she smiled. She then asked me if I knew Tyshawn Taylor. I said of course, he is the rookie PG for the Nets, and then said, "he lives in Hoboken too." For the next 10 minutes I couldn't stop smiling because what she was about to tell me just awesome. She told me that she has been a long time friend of him and that she is somewhat related (don't want to disclose how). She said its weird to her when people come up to him on the streets and ask for his autograph because she views him as an ordinary person. She also told me where he lived (not going to disclose). I started to talk to her about how I'm so excited for the first game and asked her if Tyshawn liked his teammates. She said he only had a few practices and she would ask. Before I left with my food she offered to have Tyshawn autograph my shirt! Even though I don't really follow college basketball, and I know he won't get much playing time, just the fact that he is on the Nets and I could get his autograph would be awesome. I thanked her, and tried not to seem like a star struck kid, but inside I was like wow this is epic.

So yeah, that was my day just wearing my Brooklyn shirt, imagine if I had my socks on too :)
