As the Nets posted a photo gallery and a video tour of their new basketball court at Barclays Center Tuesday, NBA officials did a walk-through of the arena. While engineering consultants reported that the schedule will be tight for Jay-Z's Opening Night concert, the NBA told Nets officials that such last minute concerns are normal.
Merritt & Harris, consultants to Barclays Center bondholders, reported that "the Arena schedule is extremely aggressive, but achievable," and that the arena and other improvements nearby --the Transit Connection, main parking lot and a bridge at the eastern end of the arena-- are expected to be done by September 22, six days before the Jay-Z concert.
Meanwhile, the report also lists some late change orders to the arena, including a $184,545 "revision" to the "Onexim Suite," that is Mikhail Prokhorov's private double suite at center court, as well as another for $155,652 for "revised dasherboards to meet NHL standards." Dasherboards surround hockey rinks.
