Joe Johnson is one of 17 sponsors, all current or former NBA or WNBA stars, of a basketball-themed fund-raiser for President Obama's re-election campaign later this month. The event is being held in New York.

According to Capital New York, it's a multiple-part fund-raiser with an afternoon event, starting at $5,000 for a parent and child ("or two people"), that includes "series of activities simulating a professional practice experience," after which "participants will be divided into teams and compete against each other while being coached by their hardwood heroes!"

That's followed by an evening dinner, co-hosted by Michael Jordan and featuring a number of other current and former players, at a price of $20,000 per person. (The list of featured dinner guests also includes NBA commissioner David Stern). Among the other sponsors are Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo and Kyrie Irving.
