Word is that Brooklyn has become such an attractive location that agents are pushing to get their guys workouts with the Nets or just spreading word about the team's possible interest in their client, thinking it will drum up business.
It's hard to tell which is which with Derrick Brown, the hyper-athletic 6'8" small forward from Xavier who had his best year with the NBA's worst, the Bobcats. His agent, Calvin Andrews of BDA Sports, reports that the 24-year-old has workouts scheduled with the Spurs next week and the Hawks the following week, then hopes "to develop talks with the Brooklyn Nets." Brown, who had a short and unhappy run with the Knicks two years ago, averaged 8.1 and 3.6 in 65 games, starting 17, with Charlotte last year.
