Shelden Williams has signed with Elan Chalon who plays in both the French League and Euroleague, the team has confirmed. Williams, becomes the first of the Nets remaining free agents to sign a professional contract. Damion James, Sundiata Gaines and Armon Johnson have yet to sign either in the NBA or overseas. Gerald Green signed with the Pacers.
Williams, 28, played one year for the Nets on a veterans minimum deal. Pressed into service after Brook Lopez and then Mehmet Okur went down, Williams started 35 games for the Nets, averaging 4.6 points and 6.0 rebounds in 22 minutes overall. Williams is married to Candace Parker, who plays internationally as well as in the WNBA.
