In an interview with Sam Amick, Deron Williams sounds like he would be cool with either Dwight Howard or Brook Lopez, pointedly lavishing praise on his current teammate. And yes, he monitors the situation, communicating regularly with Billy King.
On Howard: "I'm not really worried about (getting Dwight). Of course anybody would love to play with Dwight Howard, but it's out of my control. I think it's on Orlando and who they feel most comfortable with, so I'm just really not going to concern myself and just really focus on these Olympics."
On Lopez: "I like Brook Lopez. He's a great player. I think he's kind of an overlooked, under-appreciated, because he's been on some bad teams himself, so those things happen. You see that with a lot of guys. When they're on teams that aren't winning, people forget about them. And he was hurt all last year, so I think he's been working really hard, especially in the weight room, improving his body and strength. I think he's going to have a big year next year.'
D-Will also spoke about what was important in making the decision to stay, praising Joe Johnson's game and noting how important his relationship with King and Avery Johnson has become. Money, he said, was not an issue.
