Hello all, as a new user I wanted to introduce myself.
I am from Pittsburgh, PA and am an avid fan of Pitt (I am a sophomore there) football and basketball, as well as the Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers (in that order, believe it or not). Of course, we unfortunately don't have an NBA team. I began to get into the NBA around 04 or 05, as an 11 or 12 year old. My team back then was actually the Miami Heat because I liked Dwyane Wade and let's face it, kids are frontrunners. The Heat of course won the Finals in 06, but instead of ascending to superfan, I fell out of interest in the league after the whole Tim Donaghy incident. Last year's playoffs was the first time since then that I started to get back into the NBA. This year, I had a few teams I liked, but no clear favorite team (sure not the Heat). About a month ago, I decided on Brooklyn. What better team to become a born-again NBA fan with than the born-again Nets?
As a Pitt fan, I am used to heartbreak. As a Pirates fan, I am used to perennial disappointment. As a Pens fan, I have met both glory and utter disbelief. As a Steelers fan, I have learned to find the happy medium of loving the team, but disliking the owner and hating (most of) our fans. Hopefully the Nets, like the Pirates, can turn from cellar-dweller to contender this year!
I have been lurking on this site for a couple weeks now, and decided to create an account to interact with everyone here. I really like the unity and intelligence on this site, and look forward to discussing an exciting season with everyone!
