The Nets would have liked to sign their former captain, but they thought the price was too high. The Mavs who he won a ring with, thought they had signed Jason Kidd but at the last minute he got a better offer ... from the KNICKS.
After a week where Brooklyn stole Manhattan's thunder on the tabloid back pages and on the Times front page, James Dolan got his day in the sun by signing a 39-year-old to back up two other guards he has yet to sign, Jeremy Lin and Raymond Felton. Earlier today, the Mavericks believed they had signed Kidd with a 3 year, $9.5 million offer. The Knick bid was reportedly higher.
Last week, the Nets thought they could sign both Deron Williams and Kidd but cap issues moved them in a different direction.With the aid of their mutual agent, Jeff Schwartz, both took the better offer. Each disappointed Dallas fans and Mark Cuban who's also lost out on Steve Nash.
