The Nets, Bucks and Raptors are all in the mix (along with at least one unnamed European team) for Ersan Ilyasova, the Turkish power forward who had a breakout season in Milwaukee. An unrestricted free agent, Ilyasova finished with averages of 13 and 9, coming on strong at the end of the year. Now, he wants to get paid.
For the Nets to offer the 25-year-old a competitive deal, they'd have sign Kris Humphries using Bird Rights, then trade him for Ilyasova, almost certainly in a three-team deal. The move would be complicated. The Nets would have to get Humphries to agree to both the destination and deal. Also, word is that if the Nets can't get Ilyasova, they may simply re-sign Humphries. The Bucks have an additional advantage. They have offered Ilyasova a five year deal.
The Nets acquired two power forwards Tuesday: Mirza Teletovic and Reggie Evans. Evans and Ilyasova share the ame agent, Andy Miller.
