After a 27-point, 13-rebound performance in double-overtime loss on Monday, it would seem Tornike Shengelia and his Georgian teammates were due for a letdown. And that's what happened Tuesday vs. the Czech Republic in Estonia. Shengelia shot 4-for-17 from the field and only 3-for-7 from the free throw line, scoring 12 points. He did grab a game high 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Georgia finished 1-2 in the Four Nations Cup in Tallinn, beating the home team and losing to a group of US college players. Shengelia averaged 17.3 points and 10.7 rebounds, shooting 41% overall and 25% from deep. Georgia will play in another "friendly" tournament starting this weekend. One of teams they'll face is Ukraine, coached by Mike Fratello. Shengelia signed a guaranteed two year contract last week.
