The Nets front office has made three claims this off-season about the personnel they signed, re-signed or traded for.
Deron Williams, said Billy King and Avery Johnson, is the best point guard in the league. It's arguable, but a reasonable assertion. Next, they contend the Nets have the best backcourt in the NBA with Williams and Joe Johnson. Certainly possible, particularly when you factor in the deep bench. The third claim is that Brook Lopez is a top five center. When healthy, he's certainly among the top offensive pivot men, but top five overall?
Tim Bontemps tries his hand at the Lopez assertion and comes away unconvinced. For him, Lopez is no better than eighth or ninth, but he notes, the 24-year-old could get a lot better.
