In the Boston Globe Sunday and on ESPN.com earlier in the week, Tyshawn Taylor has quietly gotten some nice notices as a "gem" and "big surprise" of the NBA rookie class. Taylor was the leading rookie scorer in the Orlando Summer League.
The Globe's Gary Washburn writes, "A player to watch this season in Brooklyn is rookie point guard Tyshawn Taylor, who may be the backup to Deron Williams for the suddenly high-powered Nets. The Nets didn't have a first-round pick and appear to have grabbed a gem with Taylor, taken 41st."
David Thorpe lists Taylor as one of his big surprises: "Super-fast and super-quick guys who are mentally tough always find a home in the league if they are tall enough, which Taylor is."
