Marc J. Spears tweets about what Deron Williams will hear from the Nets later Monday: "Nets DWILL message today: he's face of franchise, team working to be contender by re-sign Wallace, Lopez pursuing Joe Johnson, DH; new arena." Sekou Smith of NBA.com reports a similar list, adding that $25 million disparity between what the Nets and Mavericks can offer him.
In addition, David Aldridge reports that the Nets, contrary to reports, have not reached out to either Jeremy Lin or Goran Dragic, that if Williams bolts, Plan B is Steve Nash, period.
Aldridge also notes that Gerald Wallace agreed to take less money in the first year of his four-year, $40 million deal to help the Nets with other moves.
The meeting is one of two Williams scheduled for Monday. The first is with the Mavericks. Neither owner will attend the meetings and the Nets remain confident they are in the post position and continue working the phones to assure Williams he won't be alone on the court in the fall when Barclays Center opens in Brooklyn.
Late Sunday, Spears tweeted on progress in the Joe Johnson trade, "Nets still trying to get trade done for Hawks guard Joe Johnson and hoping to get resolved by mid-week, sources tell Yahoo! Sports"
