Knicks conspiracy theory

I was talking to my friend who is a knicks fan, about the departure of Jeremy Lin. I can completely understand why Dolan does not want to pay him that money because he is most def not worth that contract, especially with the luxury tax ramifications. However, i am not here to discuss whether or not Lin is worth his $25 mil contract. We can argue about that all day but we can save that for another time.

The main point is that even if Dolan did not want to keep Lin for 3 years, why not sign & trade to Houston? why not sign and then trade at the deadline? I could not understand why Dolan would simply let one of his most valuable trade assets walk away for absolutely nothing in return, and then it dawned on me.

The 2013 All Star Game has been rumored to be in either the newly renovated MSG or the newly built Barclays Center. I am not usually a conspiracy theorist but it just sounded too strange. I believe that Stern promised Dolan that if he lets Lin go to Houston (or any other team) to boost revenues for a small market team who needs Lin more than a big market like New York, that Stern will give him the 2013 All Star Game in return. I'm pretty sure Stern gave the Saints owner the All Star Game in New Orleans as an incentive to buy the team, idk about rigging the draft for him, but I'm pretty sure he is allowed to schedule the All Star Game wherever he chooses.

Like i said, i dont usually have these ridiculous conspiracy type thoughts but if Stern picks MSG for the All Star game in 2013 over Barclays, at least i'll know what swayed his vote...
