I see a lot of push for Darko and Nazr on here, to fill in as a back up C. First off, I'd like to state, Nazr is the guy I trust more in the back up role. Darko has upside, fine. But he's been around long enough. This is who he is. If Brook twists an ankle. I'd rather count on Nazr at the pivot.
But, for both of these guys, I want us to take a serious hard look at Hassan Whiteside. I'd love to add Whiteside as a 3rd string C. A 7 footer with a 7'7" wing span, who's got the athleticism and shot blocking ability to dominate defensively. He is young, too, with legitimate upside. Not Darko, upside. He's barely 23 years old, and in way too limited minutes to matter, posted a 16+ PER.
We need a guy like this as a potential minimum signing. We're capped out. If a guy like Whiteside pans out, we don't even need to think about Dwight. Imagine having a front court with Brook's offense, and Bynum's defense! With Hump, Evans, and Tele rotating in off the bench. Heck we could probably even play Hump as a big wing, with his athleticism, although I think he'll get destroyed defensively.
I just want to get a legitimate conversation going on Hassan Whiteside. The dude is definitely worth a look. What does everyone else think?
