Stefan Bondy reports Tuesday that the Nets are looking at Nazr Mohammed, who played for the Thunder last season, for their back-up center spot. Mohammed, 34, averaged 2.7 points and 2.7 rebounds last season, appearing in 63 games. He has two NCAA championships with Kentucky and an NBA ring with the Spurs.
Mohammed would be paid the vets minimum, Bondy reports. The move would bring to 12 the number of players signed or committed without Kris Humphries who the Nets continue to pursue. Mohammed would also be the fifth player signed to a minimum contract as well as the fifth Jeff Schwartz client signed. Marc J. Spears reported the Nets are a "frontrunner" for Darko Milicic, but Howard Beck reported the interest was not great.
