A report out of Israel has the Nets signing Bryant Dunston, a 26-year-old power forward who played well for them in summer league. David Pick, who writes for international sites Eurobasket and Sportando, reports "Brooklyn is on the verge of offering him a guaranteed contract for the next season."
A league source denied the report.
The 6'8" Dunston, who grew up in Queens and played college ball at Fordham, averaged 9.0 points and 6.4 rebounds in five summer league games, impressing with his strength and athleticism. He's also played overseas in South Korea (where he was Player of the Year in 2010), Greece and for two teams in Israel. He averaged 14.5 points, 9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 31 games.
Like four other players signed or committed to the Nets, Dunston is a client of Jeff Schwartz. Deron Williams, Tyshawn Taylor, Mirza Teletovic and Jerry Stackhouse are all Schwartz clients as is Ilkan Karaman, the Nets #57 pick in the Draft.
