Like many of you on Nets Daily I am a huge fan of WFAN. Listen to it all day at work, and I am a fan of Evan Roberts. It's very rare to see someone in the media actually admit they are a fan of the Nets. However, through out this Dwightmare and D-Will re-sign drama, and the trades we made, Evan has annoyed the living moiso out of me. And not just him but fans, even on here, just like him. The whiney pessimistic fans, who think nothing good will happen and when something good does happen, it can't be accepted as good has to be in some way, shape or form damaging to the Nets. It's quite annoying, at least with Evan he admits he's just a pessmistic Nets fan, while others just state they're being realistic. (By the way, why is it anytime someone is being a pessimest they consider themselves to be realist while all the optimust are dreamers?)
Now the Dwightmare ended and we signed our center, the one we drafted, the one who has been loyal to us, the one (who even through all of this) did not sign an offer sheet, the one who drops 20 pts a game grabs 7 rebounds (check his career stats) and gets almost 2 blocks a game. And how dopes Evan Roberts and 70% of the Nets Fans on this site react? Like the world is going to end and someone kidnapped our child. First and foremost Dwight was never our player, he was never on our team, he has never worn a Nets uniform, therefore he was never ours. Need I remind you back in 2002 and 2003 we made the finals with Jason Freaking Collins as our center. Just because Dwight isn't here doesn't mean we can't be a winning team, I mean if Dwight meant automatic championship then where are his rings? The way I see it, the core we have now in D-Will, JJ, Crash, Brooks and Bro-pez can make noise, add a few more key roles and we can contend. Its not that unbelievable. Miami won a title with absoultely no Center or PG, and we have both those spots really covered. Along with a SG and a defense minded SF. We have taken great steps to come this far and make ourselves relevant again, so why the depression? Is it because we didn't make a trade for one man and crappy contracts?
It's my belief that if you're truly a fan of the Nets you'd look at what we did this off season, look at where we where six years ago and see the improvement. A true Nets fan should enjoy this be optimistic (you know being thats being a realist too). A real Nets fan would be happy that finally someone in that office actually cares about putting a real team together and not just saving cap space. That finally we have good players and multiple all-stars, and they actually want to be here. A true Nets fan would be proud of how far we've come, instead I mostly hear this crying of how we will never win and we will always suck and we're not good enough to beat the Knicks. THE KNICKS! I mean have you seen the mess they have over there? So please why can't we just be fans of our team and our players for once, be proud. We finally have a reason too again.
