King is slowly building a well rounded team that should contend. There remain a few holes on the roster, most notably on the front line. I think King should deal for Robin Lopez.
I think Lopez was in a bad situation in Phoenix. He isn't a NBA starter.. that is clear. But, his role was limited by a few factors:
1) Lopez played too slow for Phoenix's offense
2) Gortat solidified himself as a top 10 center.. limited Robin's minutes.
Presently, Robin is a RFA. I can't imagine his value would be extraordinarily high, as he was a mid 1st rounder to begin with and hasn't proved to be starter worthy. There are many advantages to bringing him here. Obviously, it would make Brook happier. I'm sure Brook has 60 million reasons to be happy. Nonetheless, I think having Robin there to bang with in practice would help him. Robin is seen as being slightly better on defense. His TRB isn't great at 13% and that should be higher..
There aren't many options out there at backup center. Lopez is at least serviceable and likely will improve from his Phoenix days.
Would Phoenix accept: $ (Sarver is seen as a cheapskate), Gaines in a sign and trade, and a protected #1 pick (protected as in top 20 protected)? I think that is possible.
The only downside I can see is that closes the door on Dwight further.. but I would behappy for it to be over for good
Thoughts?
