M I K E and I have been talking about why Deron has been saying he wants to accept calls on July 1st at 12:01 AM from other teams. All Free-Agents are allowed to talk to teams on July 1st. This gives Deron very limited time to make a decision, if he hasn’t already decided, becuase he says he wants to choose before the Olympics which start July 6th. I believe Deron has already made his decision. Technically, Deron was not supposted to meet with anyone outside of the Nets. We all know that he met with Billy King and Mikhail Prokhorov in Russia a month ago. But, who knows, he may have also met with Mark Cuban and other Mavericks Executives when he went to Dallas for the week. IF Deron was smart, and that’s a big ‘if’, he would let Billy King and the Nets know if he plans to stay so they can plan ahead and make some moves. I just want to know what you guys thought about this. Do you think Deron has decided on where he wants to go? Or do you think he really is going to decide over the phone July 1st?

...Williams said he intends to make his decision and make it public as soon as possible.

"July 1 hopefully,‘’ he said. "Hopefully I’ll know something.’’

Since he can’t have contact with any teams until July 1, Williams was asked how he’ll be able to make a decision that quickly.

"I think I’ll have a good idea,‘’ he said. "My agent (Jeff Schwartz), he’s done this before. So we’re going to talk, actually today about some scenarios.’’

He said "probably’’ he’ll be taking phone calls from teams at 12:01 a.m. July 1, the soonest teams can contact him.

"I’m, sure when it comes down to the time, it’ll only be between a couple teams,’’ he said.
