Carmen Ejogo, actress and vocalist, is one of the more high profile Brooklynites who opposed the Nets arena . The late Heath Ledger, actresses Michelle Williams (Ledger's widow) and Rosie Perez, children's singer Dan Zanes and several authors were either on the Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn's Advisory Board or publicly supported the critics' efforts.

But now, as the arena gets close to completion, Ejogo is dealing with the inevitability of it all. In an interview with Brooklyn Magazine, she says, "We were so against that happening, but my son is such a big basketball fan, and I know we’ll end up there at some point." Ironically (or not), Brooklyn Magazine is filled with ads for, wait for it, Barclays Center.
