Move over, Sly Fox, your days are numbered. Make way for the Brooklyn Knight (get it? Brooklynite). That's what Fred Kerber reports Saturday. Kerber writes that the Nets have contracted with Marvel Comics, creator of Spider-man, Captain America and the Incredible Hulk, to develop and design the mascot.
The mascot will be rolled out sometime later this summer, just as the team's new uniforms will be in September. The team continues to market the Brooklyn theme which thus far has been quite successful, as evidenced by the sales of team merchandise online and at the NBA Store in Manhattan.
