We can't do the superstar model, so we should do the Mavs model

Essentially, we should take in as much productive bad salary players as possible to show Dwill we are trying to compete and will do anything it takes to win.

If I understand the cap restrictions correctly, we can resign Humphries and all our free agents on huge (ex. $12M) 1 yr deals and sign and trade them for overpaid but talented players, since we don't really have alot of flexibility anymore

Potential targets

1) Joe Johnson (perhaps packaged along with Josh Smith) - so hawks can go to rebuild

2) Amar'e Stoudemire - Stat for expirings and picks, take it or leave it

3) David Lee (maybe we can get a pick or a rotation player along with him) - Gld State wants to tank, so they might be willing to dump their best player

4) Elton Brand - 76ers want to go after Hump, why don't we just sign and trade, maybe we can even get one of their productive guards

5) Hedo Turkoglu - obviously if it helps us get Howard

6)John Salmons (maybe we can get Marcus Thornton or even their 2012 pick if we give up Brooks)

...and so much more

I think if we can get two out of all the productive overpaid players, we can instantly become a legitimate contender without giving up too much. I'm dreaming of getting David Lee and Joe Johnson for nothing
