It was only a few years ago when he beat the Spurs and MVP Steve Nash's Suns to reach the finals. Would a terrible coach win those games. Basketball is a tough sport to coach but I guarantee you in this league no coach works harder than Avery. He is always coaching even when his team is down 30 points. He is always scouting. He does not sleep. He is a very hard worker and the players appreciate him and like him. What more can you ask from a coach? Yes the results last year was a little disappointing but injuries really hurt the team. 255 missed games? no team could of made the playoffs with that stat. we lost last year because of lack of talent and injuries, NOT because of lack of preparation. If you guys can name a better coach who will work harder than Avery name him. otherwise stop whining.
On that topic of whining stop complaining of Anthony Morrow's game. His game is what it is. Hes a shooter. Hes a catch and shoot guy or a catch and pass guy and that is what the Nets want him to be. No he is not a driver or finisher and he can' t create his own shot. but he would be a perfect player off the bench. he is smart and is not a ball stopper. he is not like Travis Outlaw who when he catches the ball and stops the whole flow of the offense by dribbling down the shot clock and looking for his won shot. if Morrow does not have a catch and shoot he quickly passes it and keeps the flow of the offense going. He would be a perfect bench player though but he has been forced to start is that his fault?
Brooks is going to be a decent player. the only problem is he likes to go one on one. that kills a lot of the clock and often forces him into a tough shot. as he becomes a better shooter, he will develop a more balanced game. I see a bright future for him.
Wallace is very underrated. He is a coaches dream in terms of his hustle and defense. he brings toughness. hes not afraid to give up his body for a charge, to give a hard foul and he chases every rebound. that attitude will rub off on everyone trust me and have an affect on the team. He is a must re-sign. he is a special player who always gives 110% and those players are not easy to find. Just look at the Nets before Wallace we haven't seen that kind of effort in a Nets uniform since Jason Kidd and Jason Collins. Little things make a big difference in basketball. Fans may not notice it but coaches and players do.
The only real head case is Lopez. We did not see much of him last year but his effort on the defensive end must improve. I would like to see him bulk up and protect the paint. Which means give hard fouls and go hard after rebounds. right now he has a reputation of being soft and other teams know that. that is the worst reputation you can have in the NBA and other teams come in and will bully us inside. Its up to him to lose that reputation
