On Saturday, Brett Yormark tweeted, "Big announcement this week re the barclays center. I mean big. Very exciting times for brooklyn." It led to all sorts of speculation about what the announcement might be. It's not about the Nets.
The news is that Barbra Streisand, Brooklyn born and raised, will perform a concert on Thursday, October 11th at Barclays Center. In addition, Yormark told Good Day New York Wednesday that Jay-Z will play FIVE dates at the arena, not just Opening Night, September 28. Yormark didn't provide dates for the additional Jay-Z concerts. He told the FOX 5 anchors that the Nets minority owner will be joined by "friends" at the concerts.
"Barbra Streisand in Brooklyn will be a huge moment and a defining experience for Barclays Center," said Yormark in announcing the concert.
