One of Madison Square Garden's signature events for decades, the Golden Gloves Finals, won't take place at 7th and 33rd next spring. Instead, Brett Yormark has lured the 86-year-old event to Brooklyn.
"Beginning next April, the championships for the nation’s oldest, largest and most celebrated amateur boxing tournament will grab a golden opportunity to relocate to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center," reported the Daily News, which sponsors the event. "My personal goal is to reinvent the Golden Gloves and to give it the biggest platform it’s ever enjoyed," said marketing maven Yormark.
The 2012 Kellogg’s® Tour of Gymnastics Champions, a national tour featuring Team USA’s top performing gymnasts following the 2012 Olympic Games in London, is also coming to Barclays Center in November.
