Petition for the Nets to Reform Their Use of the Social Media Accounts

The Nets are moving ahead to a new stage in the history of their franchise, making numerous changes as they prepare for a new home under the rich label of "Brooklyn." Overall, the fanbase is thrilled to see these changes. However, one change that we as a whole were hoping to see made was a removal of the pointless use of the team's social media accounts.

As Facebook and Twitter users, we would like to follow these pages in order to keep up with news, receive special offers, see recent highlights, etc. For the most part, the team's marketing has done a solid job in that respect. The problem arrives when the content steps away from this field and takes a step down to a rather immature level. This is occasionally seen in original tweets and posts, but it never fails to appear when it comes to interacting with fans. Nearly every tweet directed at the Twitter account and every wall post on the team Facebook page receives a reply from the account administrator. It is one thing to interact with fans for the purpose of addressing inquiries and providing information. That is a reasonable purpose for a page's existence. But what benefit could there possibly be in responding to post after post with insincere optimism? We can all agree that no fan will be drawn closer to the team because they receive a reply that, for all we know, could be coming from a robot, especially when they see other posts receiving nearly identical responses. This approach is both pointless and embarrassing.

The Nets have made a number of wonderful reforms, but this is near the top of the list of changes that absolutely need to be made. We as a fanbase wish to see the social media accounts used in a proper manner.
