Low-Light: December 27th, 2011, Nets vs. Hawks. This was the Nets Home-Opener in which I attended. This was just a terrible game. The crowd was terrible (as usual) and the team was just stagnant. This was a 36 point loss, 106-70
High-Light: January 25th, 2012, Nets vs. Sixers. This is the game where most of you remember Deron Williams hitting that nice 3 pointer at the end of the game to seal the deal. What I remember is what a great game Kris Humphries had, 19 rebounds. He dominated the boards that game.
Low-Light: February 4th, 2012, Nets vs. Knicks. Yes, this was the start of Lin-Sanity ™. Jeremy Lin had 25 points in a 99-92 win over the Nets. I don’t know what hurt me more, losing to the Knicks, or hearing about Jeremy Lin on SportsCenter all that next day.
High-Light: February 18th, 2012, Nets vs. Bulls. This was the game where we just jumped on the Bulls from the start. Yes, I know we beat the Bulls without D. Rose, but keep in mind they were 18-9 without him all year. Deron Williams was the brightest spot of that game with 29 points and 8 assists. Our largest lead of that game was 22, and Chicago never had the lead that whole game. The Nets won easily 97-85.
High-Light: February 20th, 2012, Nets vs. Knicks. This was a statement game for the Nets. Deron Williams was mad about this ‘Lin-Sanity’ so he needed to put a stop to it, and he sure did. In my opinion, this was the Nets best game of the season. Deron Williams had a monster game dropping 38 points on the rival Knicks. The Nets won 100-92.
High-Light: February 28th, 2012, Nets vs. Mavericks. This is a game I hope sticks in Deron’s head. Not because we beat Dallas, a potential threat to snag him in free agency, it’s because Brook Lopez showed what he can do. Lopez had 38 points and was dominating that whole game. It was a nail-biter and after a Jason Kidd missed buzzer-beater with no time remaining, the Nets won 93-92.
High-Light: March 4th, 2012, Nets vs. Bobcats. History was made on this day. Deron Williams dropped 57 points in a close game against Charlotte. Deron Williams broke the Nets record for most points in a game. His 57 points was the most scored this season. Deron Williams also became the 2nd NBA player in history to have over 50 points and 20 assists in a season, the other player, Wilt Chamberlain.
Low-Light: March 6th, 2012, Nets vs. Heat. This was just a bad game. We weren’t expected to win by any means, but we weren’t expected to lose by 30. LeBron James had 21 points in the 1st quarter. This was one of a few games I turned off throughout the season.
High-Light: March 7th, 2012, Nets vs. Clippers. This was the game where Jordan Farmar hit the buzzer beating 3, to win the game. The Rock was loud that game (for once). Jordan Farmar is sort of a ‘Clipper Killer’. Last year on March 11th, 2011 when Deron Williams was out when his wife was giving birth, Jordan Farmar stepped up and beat the Clippers in the same building.
High-Light: March 10th, 2012, Nets vs. Rockets. Yes, we lost this game 106-112, but the loss was well worth it. This was the game where Gerald Green had that amazing wind-mill alley-oop dunk. In my opinion, this was the Dunk of the Year.
Gerald Green...Are You Kidding Me?! (via NBA)
Low-Light: April 16th, 2012, Nets vs. Heat. We were winning pretty much the whole game, but LeBron James came in and ruined the fun in the 4th quarter. We had a chance down 3 late in the 4th quarter, but DeShawn Steveson couldn’t get in ball inbounds in time, resulting in a 5 second violation.
Low-Light: April 23rd, 2012, Nets vs. Sixers. This was the last ever game in New Jersey for the Nets, and they lost 105-87. It was a hard one to swallow.
