I can see it now.

It's not the place that's cursed. It's the franchise.

With the Rockets losing, or choking would be a better term, against the Heat. The Nets has no 1st round picks for a strong draft. Add to that is the possibility of the departures of the 2 best players of the season.

When the Nets arrive in Brooklyn next season, it may just like be the same as when they first came to the league. No superstar to build on. They sold Dr. J just to pay the Knicks and the League and went crashing for years.

If Deron and Wallace leaves, the Brooklyn Nets' starting 5 would be:

BEST CASE SCENARIO

PG: Overpayed FA (i.e. Felton, Miller or Dragic) or Farmar

SG: MarshOn Brooks

SF: Gerald Green (I doubt he's leaving) SF: Gerald Green

PF: Overpayed FA (i.e. Anderson or Ilyasova) or Hump

C: Brook Lopez

6th Man: Anthony Morrow

WORST CASE SCENARIO

PG: Jordan Farmar

SG: MarshOn Brooks

SF: Gerald Green

PF: Jordan Williams

C: Brook Lopez

6th Man: Anthony Morrow

If and when both Wallace and Deron bolts, Brooklyn would most likely overpay FA's just to play with them. I excluded KG since i doubt he signs with them w/o Deron. The best case scenario would give this team a chance to at least compete for the 8th seed. At the same time develop the young guns, i.e. Brooks, Lopez and Anderson/Ilyasova. They would have mediocre to little star power to attract people to watch them play.

But the worst case would probably be that the Nets miss out on decent or good FAs and would be a laughing stock despite having a great arena to play in.

So for all our sake, let's hope and pray that Deron would stay.
