I don't know about you guys, but I would be crying a freaking ocean if the Nets were to somehow form their own version of a "Big Three" by joining Dwight Howard and Josh Smith to team up alongside Deron Williams as the Nets head to their new home of Brooklyn next season. As I've mentioned recently, I believe that the best case scenerio (based on the current predicament of the Nets) would be to wait until free agency in the summer of 2012 to make a push for Dwight Howard since they'd be able to hold onto all assets that they could use to land the right piece to the puzzle (if necessary). There really is no point in trying to pursue him right now when the Nets probably aren't going to sniff the playoffs, this year. They're about 7 games out of the 8th seed with 27 games to go (as of 3/7/2012). Realistically, they would have to go something like 22-5 or 20-7 to even be in the playoff hunt in this shortened season. The last thing you want to do is risk injury to more (key) players and we end up losing them for the remainder of the season and perhaps part of next season just because we're trying hard to make a push for a playoff spot that is likely unrealistic at this point, especially with Brook Lopez out for another extended period of time (sigh).
Even though I would hate to see it happen, I actually wouldn't mind if Billy King did indeed shut down Lopez for the rest of the season especially if he doesn't show improved progress with his ankle and any other injury lingering upon him. Save his health and any value that he has so if he is indeed traded somewhere down the line (hopefully to the Hawks for Josh Smith), teams won't have to hold too many question marks on him. Of course, the Nets should only trade Lopez IF Dwight Howard is 100% certain to be in a Nets uniform for next season. In the meantime, BK should have something in the works as far as a decent trade is concerned just to keep fans around and ride out the rest of the season without having us watch the same garbage the majority of the time. Do something that will help D-Will to smile alittle more than he is now because God knows he hasn't had much to smile for, this season.
I've been hearing rumors for the past 2 seasons about D-Will and D12 talking constantly with each other about the potential, but I wonder if both of them have ever mentioned to Billy King about the possibility of acquiring Josh Smith. Better yet, have either of the 2 ever had a convo directly with Josh Smith about their future plans? Is Josh Smith even a part of the plans at all or is this more of D-Will and D12 uniting together? Does anyone have any info concerning this? Plus, which trio do you think is more realistic to form together? D-Will, D12 and J-Smoove OR D-Will, D12 and Dirk? Let me know what you all think of this and feel free to share your thoughts. Go Nets!!
