The Springfield Armor are leading the East as they head into Sunday afternoon's game vs. the Maine Red Claws. The Armor's eight game winning streak ended Friday night when the Red Claws beat them 100-94, but the Iowa Energy continued their losing ways. Both teams are now both 21-14 and tied for first.
In Friday night's loss, two Armor bigs had double-doubles. Jeff Foote, a seven foot center, had 17 and 12 while ex-Net Dennis Horner finished with 18 and 12. Jerry Smith, the D-League's Player of the Month, led the Armor with 22, but JamesOn Curry had his worst game on the season, missing 13 of 14 shots for eight points. Morris Almond, the D-League's veteran shooting star, had 34 for Maine. If the Armor win the Sunday rematch and gain sole possession of the top spot, it will be the first time Springfield has done that.
