It should come as no surprise, but Jason Terry tells Chris Thomasson of FOX Sports that Mark Cuban has been making moves aimed at clearing cap space so the Mavericks can pursue Deron Williams and Dwight Howard. Other sources say that Williams is Cuban's main target.

Terry, in explaining why the Mavericks did not offer him a contract extension, said Dallas ownership and management were quite upfront with him. "They didn't even lowball me," Terry said. "They didn't want to bring anybody back from last year… (Team officials said they're) clearing the cap as low and we can and this summer we're going after Dwight Howard, which hasn't happened, and Deron Williams, which they still have an opportunity."
