Concerning Brook Lopez

Later today, we find out the anticipating evaluation on our injured center Brook Lopez. Hopefully all turns out well and he is able to return to action. If he is indeed able to return to action, I think he should make his return on Monday against the Jazz for numerous reasons. One main reason, the Nets could possibly help the Rockets keep distance between them and the resurging Jazz in the tight 8th seeded race in the West since it will boost the Nets chances of getting the Rockets 1st rounder. Not to mention, Lopez could get a couple of games in on his home court before the Nets hit the road on the following weekend. I think that the Nets could afford to leave Lopez out of the Hawks and Bobcats games, even though the Nets have been struggling mightily especially against weaker teams. Hawks have no dominant center and the Bobcats have been easy pickings for the Nets so I believe that the Nets can have a chance to right their ship against both of those teams without Lopez.

Now if the Nets front office decides to shut down Lopez for the rest of the season, which would be disappointing but understanding, then the Nets need to find the best available center on the market and sign him for the remainder of the season because I can't stand to watch She-Will and Petro make a fool out of themselves starting at center. Hollins and Fesenko are close to signing with the Pacers and Celtics respectively and they were the two best centers available on the current market, especially since the Hornets decided not to buyout Kaman. So with or without Lopez, I honestly want the Nets to finish the season strong so that it gives D-Will and the rest of the soon-to-be free agents a strong impression of the team. Can't afford to tank the season and risk losing not only a superstar, but the attraction of other free agents especially if we end up not getting our top 3 pick. Finish STRONG, Nets!!
