The 2012 New Jersey Nets may be better than the 2007 New Jersey Nets. Lets take a look how,
The 2007 NJ NETS-----------------------------------------------------------------The 2012 NJ NETS
PG-Jason Kidd/Marcus Williams/Eddie House VS PG-Deron Williams/Jordan Farmar/Sundiata Gaines
SG-Vince Carter/Bernard Robinson/Hassan Adams VS SG-Marshon Brooks/Gerald Green/Anthony Morrow/Jerry Smith
SF-Richard Jefferson/Antoine Wright/Bostjan Nachbar VS SF-Gerald Wallace/Damion James/Deshawn Stevenson
PF-Mikki Moore/Clifford Robinson/Josh Boone VS PF-Kris Humphries/Shelden Williams/Jordan Williams
C-Nenad Kristic/Mile Ilic/Jason Collins VS C-Brook Lopez/John Petro
The Point Guards for 2007 and 2012 are very close, but 2012 Point Guards definitely win this. Deron can assist and score and lead the team, Farmar and Gaines are great backups.
The Shooting Guards for 2007 and 2012 are also a very close match. Even though Vince Carter was leading the team, Marshon, Green, and Morrow put up good numbers together and are WAY younger than Carter. So in this the 2012 Nets Shooting Guards win in this matchup.
The only good Small Forward in 2007 was RJ, Antoine Wright put up good numbers but had weak Defense. And Nachbar can only hit threes, other than that he was a weak defender and couldn't put up enough points. For the 2012 Nets Gerald Wallace is better than all 3 of these 2007 players combined. Wallace can play good defense, as we saw vs Hornets yesterday. And Wallace can score the ball. Damion is very young and has good potential, Deshawn Stevenson is good backup as well. So the 2012 Nets win this also.
The 2007 Power Forwards were weak, a key reason why nets couldn't go further in playoffs. Mikki Moore was a sloppy player, has terrible defense and can only dunk the ball, no shooting capability. Cliff Robinson was washed up by this time and Josh Boone was just like Mikki Moore, Sloppy. But Boone couldn't even finish the dunk, so I give partial credit to Mikki Moore. Now the 2012 Power Forwards dominate the 2007 PF's. I don't even have to get into it but Kris Humphries can do everything a true PF can do, Score, Rebound, and play good defense. Shelden can also Rebound and score. Jordan Williams is still young but can score when put in control. 2012 Nets win this as well.
Don't remind me about the 2007 Nets Centers. Let me just go ahead and give the 2012 Nets this one too. No explanation is needed here.
Bottom Line:The 2012 Nets are better and younger than the 2007 Nets. And if it weren't for the injuries this season, the Nets would already be a playoff contender. At the start of next season, if there is no injuries and if Deron Williams stays with Nets, we will be the best and youngest in the East. And along the way if we can pick up a good free agent next season we will be in the green. But this all revolves around if Deron Williams will stay, if he doesn't....Back to the rebuilding.
