Dwight Howard coming to Brooklyn?

Stay connected for news and updates

Of course I was bummed when Dwight suddenly "changed his mind" about teaming up with Deron in New Jersey and leaving Orlando. But once I think about it, it kind of makes sense on his part. All along Dwight said that he wanted to finish out the season in Orlando. The magic are a solid team and are probably going to make the playoffs (hopefully not far). However, as the trade deadline came closer and closer and more rumors swirled about Dwight wanting to play with Deron next year in Brooklyn, the Magic didn't trust him, forcing them to make an attempt to trade him.

What I think is happening is that Dwight and Dan Fegan came together either wednesday night or thursday morning of the trade deadline and said look if you want to stay for the rest of the season in Orlando your gonna have to sign the opt-in, and then if you feel at the end of the playoffs that your team cant make a significant run in the future then you can demand a trade and go to Brooklyn where you wanted to go all along.

What also doesn't make sense is to me is that if Dwight wants to play the "loyalty" game then how come he didnt sign a 5 year extension right on the spot? instead he took an opt-in, which is 25 million dollars less than if he signed the extension.

So all in all, I do think that there will be a Dwightmare pt. 2 and hopefully it will come out our way for once.
