When the Nets move into the Turtle next season,
They'll have a new logo, new uniforms, new players and new fans. As the Nets have been saying for the last forever, It's All New! This is the promise we've been handed and the promise of the future is right around the corner.
With that said, one of the lamest parts of being a Nets fan has always been the arena experience. When I first started going to Net games in 1995, the cannons that fire T-shirts into the stands were also firing White Castle hamburgers, and when my good friend Russell was nearly decapitated with one of these hamburgers, he bravely tried what turned out to be a cold burger. Shooting burgers out of cannons = pathetically awesome. Those burgers being cold = pathetic.
What's more, the crowds, the arenas, the announcers, they have always seemed so STERILE, aside from the breathy way the old PA guy used to say JASONKIDD without a pause.
We're all expecting this identity to change come next season.
So I ask you, with this change of identity, the Nets will adopt a new theme song for their introductions. In all likelihood, this will be a Jay-Z song. But let's pretend this is a democratic process. What do YOU think the new song should be?
Here are a couple of my suggestions, but don't take them TOO seriously.
