Hopefully we get back on track with Shawne, Ammo, and D-Will. And looking forward to seeing Hump back.

He does a great job poking the ball away, taking charges, and staying with his guy

Plus he’s big and strong so he doesn’t get overpowered in the post

never has been a great defender

but within a team concept or on the blocks he is very good. Chasing quick guards is another story however

But lets be real here the lockout was tough on the rookies he seems like a good dude. I mean even Dirk wasn’t ready lets cut him some slack.

Not a credible source but still

[quote]
The Los Angeles Lakers were thought to be the team Dwight Howard favored most when he requested a trade from the Orlando Magic. While the Lakers were easily the team Howard thought about most in the summer, his desire to play for the Lakers changed after a conversation with Kobe Bryant, a source said.

Howard envisioned going to the Lakers and forming a devastating one-two punch with Bryant. But Bryant had other plans for how Howard would be incorporated into the Lakers.

Bryant told Howard that he wanted him to come to Los Angeles and help him win two more championships, but not as an understudy. He wanted Howard to be the team’s third option behind himself and Pau Gasol, according to a source. Bryant tried to sell Howard on being his “Tyson Chandler” and made it clear that Los Angeles would be his, but only once Bryant decided he was done playing.

Howard was turned off by the idea.

Howard stated that there was “no way” he would give up everything he has in Orlando to go to the Lakers and be the third option, a source close to the situation said. Howard certainly wouldn’t mind being a third piece on a star-studded team, similar to the situations in Miami and Boston. However, he was turned off by Bryant’s presentation as it suggested something totally different.

The feeling is so strong, in fact, that Howard’s representatives have informed the Lakers that Howard would not sign an extension if they trade for him this season, according to a source. The only two teams with a realistic chance at signing Howard long-term are the New Jersey Nets and Orlando Magic.

not so much with his numbers but how he ran the team and changed the momentum

He has 6 pt and 4 asts in 16 min
for the seaon 3.6 pt 1.9 asts in 6 mpg

Is there something on this team’s face that says come and race your value? this ssems to happen very often or am I just imagining this.

The only good thing that might come out of this

is that the Knicks might extend Lin for a max contract next season b/c of this game.

Pick and Roll defense is atrocious, no one stopping Lin because Tyson and Jefferies are spotting up 22 feet out

Contraction

Nets should be kicked out of the league for their pathetic braindead “defense” on lin. 3 quarters I can understand but final minutes of close game and he gets to the hole time after time for And 1s? Complete garbage. T
hey should be ashamed.

by jah_moon on Feb 4, 2012 10:04 PM EST via mobile reply actions

This has nothing to do with Dwill. This teams defense down low is literally the worst i have ever seen EVER. Awful. The only player i give props to is Hump who plays defense, but other than him, noone.

Shelden and Shawne are 2 of the softest little turds i have ever seen. And what in the world was Petro doing in this game? He straight up gave the ball to NY on one play. Terrible performance down low and I cant bare to watch anymore.

by sciara92 on Feb 4, 2012 10:04 PM EST reply actions

all that talent was a no shown tonight. They got beat by one of the less talented players on that team. It’s not like Melo or Stat went off.

by CurlyBeast on Feb 4, 2012 10:11 PM EST up reply actions

the injury excuse is getting old. This is our team no excuses, we should have had this game.

by mjf900 on Feb 4, 2012 10:08 PM EST up reply actions

You can say that but really when 2 of our top 3 players are out

then that’s something to take into consideration. We should of had this game, yeah but you can’t win them all we shut down Melo and Stat. We shut down Rubio and did a decent job on Love that’s something worth mentioning. Once Brook^2 comes back we’ll be better until then we’d just have to wait it out. The only thing the Nets need to work on is their interior defense and shutting down the whole team. D-will can’t do it all every game he’s had two bad games so far and hopefully he’ll start to pick it up again.

by Atronic on Feb 4, 2012 10:06 PM EST up reply actions

i think other teams are realizing...why are we taking jump shots against the Nets?

Just drive the ball…if they Nets step into the lane or send an extra man, then all the guard has to do is pass it over to his much bigger and skilled big man. No coincidence that Wolves deployed the same tactic last night and it worked. Nets don’t have an answer for it cuz our scrub centers aren’t bigger or quicker than the guys the other teams are sending. No name guards will have big nights against the Nets. Only way to really stop this is for Deron to put pressure on the guy who’s guarding him all night and get him worn out on that side of the court.

by Wicked dee on Feb 4, 2012 10:09 PM EST reply actions

2 things were frustrating today.

1 was the fact that we fouled anytime someone drove to the basket, and second was the inability to get morrow any shots in the second half. You would think that the Nets would try to get him hot like last night, but he was nonexistent in the second half. I think that’s the real reason the Nets lost. Not because of Lin or D-Will’s poor shooting, but because of the few plays drawn up for Morrow. Don’t fire avery, but it is something to work on when D-Will is on his bad night.

by bbfan5117 on Feb 4, 2012 10:09 PM EST reply actions

The Knicks keyed on Morrow

You could see Humphries had more space than normal to work with tonight and got to the line for a career high in attempts. They were trying to survive Humphries to take out Morrow.

An important balance

Morrow needs people to break down the defense and then he can find creases to get his shot off. If he gets on fire, it doesn’t matter if he is guarded or not

by Scoot21 on Feb 4, 2012 10:13 PM EST up reply actions

Not the Nets’ fault at all that Morrow couldn’t get open. They were constantly running plays for him and he was constantly getting blocked out by his defender.

by mytoemytoe on Feb 4, 2012 10:12 PM EST reply actions

This is why you need other Nets to draw attention away from Morrow.
