And a bit crazy considering we have all adopted the "beggars cant be choosers" mantra.

But after hearing Magic insiders and some other media suddenly say "maybe this Brook guy isnt so bad" and doing some thinking i realized that after being the underdog and laughingstock franchise for so many years maybe it's time for the Nets to finally do the bullying. We got dragged through the mud last year with the Melo Drama just to see him go to the team he wanted to go to, our big brother Knicks.

Well this year we're fortunate enough to have a star player that WANTS to be a part of this team. Our front office, for the all the crap we give them, has done a great job putting us in a position to go from rags to riches very quickly. We have TWO (potentially) 1st round picks next year, cap space, a top tier PG we got in a smart trade and two players (Lopez and Brooks) that we drafted who are/will be very solid NBA players.

We have had to suffer through a terrible year due mostly to injuries but also due to the fact that Billy King left roster and salary space open for a potential trade. And now we have to give up almost all those assets for a player who wants to be here and who we have left cap space to sign straight up? If we trade for Dwight we'll have a nice team. If we sign him, we'll have a great team.

I understand the need to lock Dwight up ASAP and not take any chances but I just feel that after all these years suffering as a Nets fan, and the horrendous year we've had to endure thus far, we deserve that great team. Its time for Deron to talk to Dwight as his friend, tell him it will be smarter to sign in July, tell him all the wonderful endorsement deals he'll get to make up the money, etc etc. Its time for the Nets to grab the bull by the horns and turn the fortune of this frranchise around, instead of just taking what someone wants to give us.
