Hump Out, Gaines Questionable, D-Will, Howard Mysterious
Kris Humphries, who made the Knicks frontcourt look ill on Monday, will be out with a sore calf Wednesday when the Nets battle Dwight Howard at Prudential Center. Also, the Nets reported that Sundiata Gaines (toe) is questionable but probably will play. On the other side of the ledger, Hedo Turkoglu didn't travel to New Jersey because of illness. Earl Clark and Jason Richardson are questionable.
But the big news out of Wednesday morning was the mystery surrounding the star of the evening, Howard. The object of the Nets affections avoided the media, quickly dashing past them at Prudential Center. And when the Nets beat writers asked Deron Williams if he and Howard had their traditional meal before playing against each other, D-Will responded, "I don't know. Did I?" Meanwhile, Stan Van Gundy just said "No" a lot.
The Nets are also planning a pyrotechnic show for pre-game.

funny thing is last time in Orlando i believe Deron said they did have dinner and Dwight avoiding answering the question, now it appears theyre on the same page lol
Other way around.
DWill responded with “Who is that? I’ve never heard of Dwight Howard” or something to that affect and then Dwight replied he has dinner and talks with lots of players with a big guilty smile on his face.

Avery said Hump actually got injured a couple of games ago
But played through it.
“I think he did it couple of games ago, but he’s been managing it and fortunately, he was able to play for us against the Knicks,‘’ Johnson said of Humphries. "But if he’s got to miss a game, that’s because he’s injured – he plays with a lot of different ailments and aches and pains, so he’s definitely injured when he misses a game.’’

I know it will probably (and should) be Josh Smith replacing him as an AS but who replaces him in the 3 point contest?
Rondo replaces him in the game
for the 3 point contest it should be either Steph Curry or Brandon Rush

Chad Ford (1:22 PM)
Probably. The only scenario where he doesn’t is if the Nets swing a deal for Dwight Howard at the trade deadline. At that point, I think Williams hangs around. If that doesn’t happen, I think Williams will join Dwight Howard (assuming he’s not traded to the Lakers in March) in Dallas next summer. Lots of signals pointing to this being the preferred outcome for both players.

well imagine if that trade went down and howard still came to the nets in FA
since cousins and evans are still on rookie contracts, we would still have the cap room for another FA signing in addition to dwight…. THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN but….
starting line up next season: (may even be better then the one with d will and howard)
Tyreak Evans
Marshon Brooks
Josh Smith
Demarcus cousins
Dwight howard
plus we would have a top 5 pick in the draft, (along with the rockets pick if they make the playoffs) since our line up for the rest of this year would be:

That actually happened to me...
when I was 14 years old…Luckily my cousin smacked the fire right off my face or I wouldn’t have this gorgeous mug today…

Now you know how M I K E
got the nickname “hot lips!”
"The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven"
my cousin used to do this trick where he would put alcohol on his hand then light it on fire and waved it off real quick before the alcohol burned off. lmao had no hair on his hands
I put lighter fluid in my mouth...
and then was going to blow it out on a open flame, to get that flame thrower effect, but I started laughing and thef fluid dripped out of my mouth and next thing you know my face lit up like a torch…I was in shock by my cousin slapped the heck out of my face just in time…I think he actually enjoyed that part a little too much. Funny how stupid kids can be.
wait...what
ITS A VVVVVVVVVVVVVVCCCCCCCCCCCCCC THREEEEEEEEEE
has to be inside joke
i mean it seemed like an inside joke. although it could also be two men lovingly licking lips at each other but unfortunately I am handicapped in terms of experience at identifying that type of situation.
i just know outward looking in, that was very uh moisoriphic and to me seemed like inside jokes.
Maybe they are practicing for a "chap stick" commercial...?

Nice Hump throwing in the towel. I guess it doesn't matter because Nets are tanking.
Fire Avery!
This guy can’t get this team motivated consistently. Jeremy Lin motivated the Nets better than Avery.

What... is Avery resting Hump for the playoffs like other teams?
No, Hump was playing and moving fine couple of days ago. He said he wasn’t hurt after the Knicks game. Hump should play. Pros shouldn’t be taking days off.
Avery is garbage. He’s suppose to be a discipline guy, but the team shows none of it.
it might be Hump's decision to not play
idk, i doubt avery would rest him forcefully since this is a big game
ITS A VVVVVVVVVVVVVVCCCCCCCCCCCCCC THREEEEEEEEEE
It's unprofessional, this and the reality tv show is ruining his image.
He also just said he loved to piss off all the NY fans. The brookly/NY fans that the team is moving to. Smart guy.
I have him on my fantasy team and he produce solid numbers, if he only knew how to clean up his image he would have been a star. But the guy is like mentally special.
WTF are you talking about?
Avery said he’s been playing injured this whole time. He played injured against the Knicks. He just couldn’t go today. If he went out there and made the injury worse, he would be shelved for the season along w/ Shawne and the others. If you can’t play, then you can’t play. Nothing unprofessional about the coach ruling you out for the game.
Hump mentioned nothing of injury during his ESPN interviews. He also showed no sign of it.
As a fan, this worries me. He injured himself doing something outside of Basketball.
OH well then!
You’ve based your diagnosis on watching a game on TV and a final cut ESPN interview. Man, oh, man, med school ain’t what it used to be!

you don't know whay goes on in the locker room. Just because he might not look hurt on the floor, doesn't mean that he isn't hurt.
Hump is a tough guy, and can play through pain. But you can’t do it all the time. Walsh probably advised him not to play tonight’s game, and Walsh is an experienced trainer who has been around for many years. If there’s one person i’d listen to about whether a guy should play or not play, Tim Walsh is that one guy. He knows what he’s doing. You aren’t in a position to question him.
I hope you're right because Hump showed no sign of injury during the Knicks game.
Just like how the team said they were tired for Bucks game but fired up for Knicks game. They were saving it for the games they want to look good in. That’s not a winning formula and looks really bad for the coach.
Avery
“I think he did it couple of games ago, but he’s been managing it and fortunately, he was able to play for us against the Knicks,‘’ Johnson said of Humphries. "But if he’s got to miss a game, that’s because he’s injured – he plays with a lot of different ailments and aches and pains, so he’s definitely injured when he misses a game.’’
I personally think it's BS excuse.
The guy was making the rounds with interviews.
Hump got hurt playing the Bulls?
I didn’t see this.
Melo strained his muscle and was out for the rest of the game.
Bargnani also strained is calf, he as pulled out immediately.
I have Hump on my Fantasy team and I track his injuries, there were no mention that he had a strain and even sat out plays.
He did one PHONE interview w/ Scott Van Pelt
He wasn’t wandering the ESPN offices going from place to place.
Hump has played through his injuries all season b/c of the injuries to other players on our rosters. Sounds like you care more about your fantasy team.
Are the nets going to do anything special for dwight howard tonight?

D-Will + Dwight = Dynasty

That is EXACTLY what I had in mind.
He could even come out with a Magic jersey and go change to a Nets jersey in a telephone box. Wondering if ESPN would forget a bit abour Jeremy Lin if that happened?
Why not wait until half time
At the start of the 2nd half, you see Lopez in Magic gear & Howard in Nets gear.

I think Nets have two shots …at it — one at the trade deadline, and again in July. RT @shortross9: so what happens at the trade deadline? Do the nets go all in on a trade? If no do mavs win?
I think it's fine.
Off topic...
NBA-TV has the games featured to vote on for Feb. 28
Nets vs. Mavericks is one of the choices. As of now that game is in 3rd place.
Please go to their website and vote so that I can watch the Nets play.
Thanks!

No,
I don’t have NBA League Pass and they never show the Nets games on NBA TV or TNT.
"The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven"
Buy League Pass
That’s what I do. I’m European and we never have basketball on TV so I invest in my Nets.
Yes, but they only show Kentucky Wildcat games

I'm worried about the opposite.
IIRC, Howard gave Lopez a black eye last year.

Lots of rumbling on ESPN about DWill leaving the Nets
They seem to think the preferred outcome for Howard and Williams is to both end up in Dallas…I hate ESPN
I hate hearing it too
but it was #2 on Dwight’s list for a reason.
we need to get Dwight in March and seal the deal. the other path is too risky IMO
i feel that
IMO if you have a shot at a dynasty for years to come, you try and make it happen.

I thought the last game against the Knicks was huge
I just get the feeling that D-Will wants all in for the whole Knicks vs Nets rivalry
Hmm… I just though of some Soulja boy lyrics, but I don’t think I should post them.
I’m just trying to figure out who get’s superman’d.

Morrow out tonight?
Counting game Morrow out for grandmother’s funeral, #Nets have lost 113 manpower games to injury, illness, personal reasons, lost bets
Don’t think so, he was probably just saying that he’s counting that circumstance into the information.
