Point of Pride - Deron Williams
Marc Narducci, writing for Hoopshype, offers up a profile of Deron Williams with a difference. Williams, he notes, is not winning but that doesn't mean he's stopped having fun on the court. And yes, he admits there is a bit of character building involved in battling all the problems the Nets have faced this season, what with all the losing, four surgeries and lost games and even seasons.
"I’m learning to fight through things and trying to lead guys even though it’s not the best situation all the time," Williams said. "We are playing better as it goes and learning how to play and developing guys. So it’s still a fun process.I just hope it’s not an extended process."

in a back to back to back
the Nets won two of three games, against the Bulls and Knicks, who along with the Heat are the hottest teams in the league. In both games, the Nets not only won. They were in control of the games.
Perhaps you have forgotten already?
"It's as sweet as it ever was, I'll tell you. Now, hopefully, we started something and we can win some more championships, but we're going to enjoy this one right now. Have a little champagne." --Julius Erving, May 12, 1976, ABA champion Nets locker room.
I think he's really developed
just a month ago he was freaking out over losses, being all sassy to reporters. Now he’s really turned a corner and shown that he’s a leader, an all-world point guard, and on board with what the Nets are trying to do.

i think having a losing record has helped D-will mature a little. i think maybe he was spoiled in Utah a little too as in you know he had more help over there than here

Played his Moiso off solid 3 point to have especially when he plays under control.

Deron keeps going back to that word: Extended
I think that as long as the Nets are not gonna be rebuilding for the the next 5 years, they have a shot at keeping him Dwight or no Dwight. If they don’t get Dwight they’ll have a high draft pick and cap space this summer to improve
He has said in the past that it's not Howard or bust
and I think it’s quite revealing tha het recognizes, thru adversity, what it takes to be a real leader. Don’t forget what he said about Lin – it happened on him and he took it personal.
Good signs, I’d say.
I don't think so
If they don’t get Howard, Nets will have to acquire some major assets to keep D-Will around. Because he knows if they don’t it will turn into a 3-5 year period of mediocrity.
Yes, Wallace and others for a strong bench.
An MKG in the draft and possibly moving some expirings like Shawne and Petro.
We’ll be a strong team – just need to see Lopez back to form offensively and better at D and everyone will calm down.
It was a learning experience for Deron
every1 loses at one point, you just gotta learn how to persevere through it

That was such a big W for this Franchise in terms of the narrative in the area regarding Lin and the Nets
Very big for Deron, you got to see what the rivalry will be like in Brooklyn, but it gave you positive feelings moving forward. Totally erased the Nets loss against the Bucks which they clearly didn’t show up for.

Knowing that Williams’ New Jersey Nets were about to face the New York Knicks and point guard sensation Jeremy Lin later that night, Howard gave his close friend some stern words and a pep talk. ``I just told him to go out there and show me something,’’ Howard said. ``I guess he did.’’

Suns have no fanbase outside of Phoenix, same for Utah, Memphis, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Charlotte
Rockets, SIxers, Pacers, Hawks, Hornets and Bobcats fanbase is the size of what they have for the Nets and Wizards
Then they dont even count frontrunners for superstars . Lakers, Clippers, Thunder, Knicks, Bulls, Mavs, Heat, Spurs, Celtics all take chunks out of every fanbase but even significant ones out of the weaker ones like Sacramento, Phoenix, Philly, New Orleans, Memphis, Charlotte, Washington, Atlanta, Cleveland, Indy, Milwaukee, Detroit, Houston, and New Jersey

Even so we are contenders
We are looking to win championships the next 5 years not just next year. That is a tremendous combination of young talent, and established stars. Our entire staring 5 could be a 20ppg scorer in their own right. I’m sure we will bring in Vets too but wow thats is like the current Thunder meets the 2006 Celtics

I think MKG will be more limited his rookie year in the NBA compared directly to Barnes.

the real long shot...
would be Dallas actually shedding salary around the trade deadline. Dallas would need to get some salary off the books in March…and would they take those steps as defending champs and top 4 seed in the West?

Grant was a tragic story his entire time there. Detroit Grant>Phoenix Grant>Duke Grant>High School Grant>Orlando Grant
Francis was also a waste. He was very distraught and unprofessional after they traded him to Orlando and he wanted no part of the team(but karma bit him hard)
VC definitely a shell of his NJ/Toronto form. VC in Dallas look better than Orlando VC
Arenas after the knee surgeries and gun incident. yeah
Lewis was an overhyped all-star who we see pumped juice to play at a high level

I don't think so.
I just don’t think it makes sense for any party if Dwight actually plans to come to the Nets, unless money is all that matters to Dwight. The Magic with little leverage against the Nets don’t have the incentive, and for Dwight it makes no sense to push to leave a playoff team to go to a non contender mid season while gutting its assets and roster

What are the chances dwight howard gets traded before the ASG and before the trade deadline?

So eLone is a source???
Credit the Nets marketing team for pumping up Howard’s appearance with special promotions and as a chance to "See Some Magic," and credit the informed Nets fans who are organizing the appreciation: with expected chants, Dwight heads, perhaps some posters.

We all know who one 8th grader wants....
First winner of the Golden Rex
Schottenheimer: "46 Left motion right over under bear 24 cat 65 triple left right up down on three"
Sione: "What is the offense doing?"
Rex: "I don’t know, but it won’t be a first down"
great I might actually watch and fool myself into thinking its not rigged
I honestly think they are going to try and pump up Paul George unless they go for Chase to recreate the 96 Dunk Contest

rewatched the game, best part was seeing D-Steve push Gaines into Novaks feet because no one rotated and made Novak screw up his open 3

Im more than ready haha.
I’ve been waiting for this, i sat through the 12-70 season & im happy to finally see things starting to turn around in a positive direction for this team.
Honestly i think Dwight’s mind is already set on being a Brooklyn Net with his soon to be partner in crime D – Will lol(:

I'm worried we will lay another stinker at home
hopefully we kept up the momentum from the Knicks game, but I’m a little worried it will be like the Bucks game. Great having Brook back but that game we kind of lost our indentity figuring out how Lopez fits in

I'm more pumped for the circus that will surround Dwight
and the crowd reaction.
I hope we win but it will be tough.
hope the promotion works and we have a good crowd

I can't help but feel a big let down is coming tomorrow ugh
Think positive!!! Have to stay positive!!
don't... think negative
Negative thoughts about the bulls game…we blow them out
Positive thoughts about the Bucks game…we get blown out
Negative thoughts about the Knicks game…“Deron Williams is not human!”
by SovietBrooklyn on Feb 22, 2012 1:43 AM EST up reply actions
Does it bother you that Deron only plays hard when he feels like it?
People say that min salary scrub like Lin can lead the scrub Knicks to 7 wins. Deron couldn’t do it. Yet when Deron feel like he can… he does it. Why does Deron max salary PG get a free pass?
Am I the only fan that gets bother by this? They could have beaten the Bucks, but decide to save energy for revenge game on Knicks. I understand, but would like consistent effort and if Deron had the 3 game winning steak. Fans would have gone nuts and Nets would be back to playoff race.
I think you're overreacting to the Bucks game
keep in mind it’s a more compressed season than usual and the team had just played the night before; players get tired. lame excuse, I know, but it happens, and they didn’t have anything that night. But to put the blame on that game on Deron and say “he doesn’t always play hard” is unfair, it was a team lapse that night.
There were nights earlier in the season when we all complaining about Deron “dogging it”, but the last month or so there have been very little complaints about his effort from even his most avid detractors, cause if you watch the games it’s clear that he can only do so much with an terrible, injury depleted roster.

I can't wait for tomorrows game !
Its going to be a packed house, I have a feeling D-Will, Brooks & Ammo will have a big game & Brook will put up decent numbers in his second game back.
If the Nets play the way they did against the Bulls & Knicks, we should get the win.
I expect to hear those Dwight chants all game long, he will feel at home lol
I want Brook to have a monster game for these Orlando fans who seem to think he s a bum
Of course my expectations are hampered being only second game back
by SovietBrooklyn on Feb 22, 2012 2:03 AM EST up reply actions
no one thinks Brooks is a bum, he's one of the hottest rookies in fantasy basketball.
Brooks on the top 5 players added today.
it's a funny video
but i wish people would quit it with that “pause” thing. it’s really juvenile and basically the same as saying LOL GAY
