Shawne Williams to Have Left Foot Surgery Wednesday

The Nets announced Tuesday afternoon that Shawne Williams will undergo surgery Wednesday to remove a bone fragment in his left foot. An official timetable for his return will be announced after the surgery. He reportedly sustained the injury before he signed with the Nets in December.

Williams has played in 25 games this season, shooting just 28 percent from the field and 24 percent from three-point range. His last game was Feb. 11 against the Spurs. He is the fourth Net to undergo foot surgery this season, following Brook Lopez, Damion James and Keith Bogans.

Sorry Shawne but...

Bq. A Nets official who spoke on condition of anonymity said he thinks there is “no chance” Williams will stay with New Jersey and that the team must come to grips with that stance and trade him before the March 15 deadline.

First of all, Deron just said that he is "very comfortable" with the Nets.

Second of all, Deron would NOT extend with that old Boston team.

Sorry ESPN Boston writer

I prefer Frank Isola (that hurt to say.)

"I will say this. Brian Scalabrini, and as you know Mike he knows everything about the league, came over to me when the Bulls were in New York and said, ‘You know, you New York media guys keep writing about Dwight Howard but everyone in the league knows he’s going to Brooklyn.’

I said, ‘Really?’

He said, ‘Yeah absolutely, believe me that’ll be a done deal.’

And I’ve talked to some people from the Magic and that is NOT a lie. He wants to play in Brooklyn with Deron Williams. And I think the whole thing with Brooklyn and Adidas and everything else that’s involved. I think how we all had this feeling that Carmelo would be in New York, we’re all getting this feeling that Dwight will be in Brooklyn."

This story is garbage. You will see lots of these as the deadline approaches. ESPN’s editorial content has dropped significantly since they created the city based areas of their site and have hired old beat writers who chuck out poorly authored articles to get clicks and comments which keeps them employed. It is a joke.

So annoying

What’s most annoying about all this DH stuff is that the Nets don’t need a new Center. Sure, it would be nice to have the best Center in the world. But to get better, the Nets need to improve on the wings and add a back up or two (especially @ Center.) It’s been that way for years now.

The Nets have created this scenario (Dwight or bust) where there’s only one possible way to improve. I hate this “all the eggs in one basket” approach. There’s no need for it. And if the Nets don’t get DH and DWill leaves, they will be the laughingstock of the NBA.

I happen to think they will get DH and DWill will stay, but if that doesn’t come to pass, it’ll be so, so ugly…

It’s good being a nets fan.

Our biggest assets are our pick, Brooks and hump (besides dwil who is staying and brook that is going).

Do we lose one, two or all three in the Dwight deal?

by rundmc00 on Feb 21, 2012 6:12 PM EST reply actions

Losing Marshon Brooks would HURT WORST. He’s an animal. On an “off-night” (3 turnovers, some cold shooting in the 4th), he had 18 points and 5 assists very quietly.

Man…we have to do everything and anything (Bojan, picks, 3rd team) to keep him around.

In fact, I’d rather keep Marshon than Hump. Now, I LOVE Hump, but there are Humps around the league. Look at Illyosha and Pekovic. Marshon is a rarer talent, IMO.

Would sting to see him leave.

WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH!
This Peter May fool asked mini-sly what he thought about Dwill’s intentions

WAAAAAY off base. The article clearly stated:

One person in the Nets organization who is not directly connected to negotiations with Williams

Mini-Sly is DEFINITELY involved.

I think Fegan is his agent too, btw.

Wouldn't surprise me

if Peter May’s “source” was one of the following:

1. A rat in the prudential center

2. Chris Sheridan

3. A rat in Chris Sheridan’s house

Therefore, Chris Sheridan lives in Prudential Center.

Poor guy, being let off by ESPN.

I think it's fine.

Brooklyn in the house...

Forget the manhattan Knicks…hump took care of new york’s frontline by himself. Imagine with Dwight next to him…unfair!!!

Or Lopez....

Lopez torch em on offense
Hump take em down on D. Perfect combo

"We're not there yet, but we're going somewhere," Johnson said. "And we're going to Brooklyn. We're not going to contract. We're going to Brooklyn."

Deron and Dwight are gonna make...

Knicks our female dogs like Kidd and kenyon.

Rec...

Hump has earned a long-term contract with Dwight and deron.

by rundmc00 on Feb 21, 2012 6:53 PM EST up reply actions

Its a matter of "earning" a contract.

We know hes earned it and we wall want him here. But its a number game.

by cody1234 on Feb 21, 2012 7:02 PM EST up reply actions

(got cut off)..numbers game..

If we trade for Dwight and take Hedo back or if we sign Dwight in July and keep Lopez we just most likely wont have the money to give him the contract he wants.

by cody1234 on Feb 21, 2012 7:03 PM EST up reply actions

If we get Dwight in a trade...

We can go over the cap to keep hump.

We will have to renounce his rights if we get Dwight as a free agent.

by rundmc00 on Feb 21, 2012 7:06 PM EST up reply actions

depends on how much we pay him

on the flip side of the Hump arguement, this is another contract year

So let's get some Lopez chants, and Hump chants

during “Dwight Night”. No sarcasm involved, I’m completely serious

Yes i agree.

I know we all want to show Dwight love but lets not forget about the guys that are ON THE NETS. The guys that have busted their ass during a tough season.

They deserve respect.

by cody1234 on Feb 21, 2012 6:59 PM EST up reply actions

We need a

“Nets Night” or something where we chant something for EVERY PLAYER (except Petro) on the Nets. Or maybe all the starters and the notables

First off, "excpet Petro" just had me laughin..

We could do what the Yankees do with the roll call. The guys in the bleachers yell each players name one at a time and the player tips his cap to them.

We could something like that during a free throw or stoppage in play.

as much as I hate to say it

wouldn’t Yi have been a better pickup that SWill ?

by iambryan on Feb 21, 2012 8:00 PM EST reply actions

in all honesty,

i hate the concept of dwight night.

most think he’s good as ours (all good and well) BUT RIGHT NOW he’s a magic…therefore, the enemy. not saying boo him but cheer for hump/lopez/dwill/morrow/brooks/deshawn etc. instead…

Adam Morrison got his team multiple championships barely trying, if that's not a great player...I don't know who is.
