Proud Nets fan

Let's admit it, the day Jason Kidd left for Dallas was the end of the Net's successful run in the NBA.

But let's also admit this, no matter how the team plays, no matter how bad their records are for the past seasons, we as fans still support them 110%. That is a mark of a true fan. Those who posts on this site, those who goes to their games, those who cheer for them even when they play bad, are real fans. We are not like some who supports teams just because the league's most famous players are there (AKA Miami, New York and LA). Or those that just hopped on the bandwagon.

So fellow Nets fans, despite the slow start, the uncertainty of the future and the bad consequences of being the NYK's rival. I wanna bring something new to the site, i wanna ask you, when did you first realized that you've become a New Jersey Nets fan? And what's the best memory you had of the team? It doesn't necessarily need to be a game, it can be a trade, a signing or when Mikail Prokhorov bought the Nets.

For me, i realize that i became a NJ Nets fan back in 2003, I was 13 years old, and just discovered the NBA. I was watching TV and saw the Nets vs Pistons Eastern Conference Finals game 2. I decided to watch the game to see why my grandfather likes basketball so much, and when i saw how Jason Kidd play and how he lead the team to a win, i realized that i was hooked into the game, and Jason Kidd's famous free throw gesture before he took the shot made me want to watch more Nets games. Because what he did was unique, i wanted to see more of it.

And my best memory, was the season after they made their last finals run. When they traded away K-Mart and Kittles. I was thinking, wtf did they do and traded away 2 starters and were stuck with the trio of Mourning, Jefferson and Kidd. But then they got vince carter and made a late season push to make it to the play-offs.

I know my reason for becoming a Net's fan contradict what i said about joining the bandwagon and stuff, but after Kidd was traded, i still am a fan. No matter what happens in the future, if Deron and Dwight leaves, i'll be fine with it. Still be a Nets fan through and through.
