D-Will Upbeat After Pistons' Win; Talks About Team's Success

On his official website, Deron Williams talks mostly about the Nets win vs. the Pistons Wednesday and how rewarding it was considering that the team had only eight players in uniform, one of whom joined the team only hours before.. But he also spoke about where things stand with him and the team as they climb up from a bad start.

"We're just trying to get as many wins as possible," Williams wrote. "Early on in the season, I was letting it effect me too much, getting too down [after losses]. I'm just trying to be positive. It's a tough situation we're in with all these guys going down, being hurt. I have to take it upon myself as the leader of this team to step up and make plays on both ends of the court.

"We're just playing a lot better together," he added. "Early on there was no continuity, no consistency from anywhere. We weren't playing good basketball. Now we're starting to get comfortable with each other and making basketball plays. Things are coming a lot easier."

I'm skeptical because we are the Nets

but if you think about the situation logically, the Nets are heavy favorites here.

Dwight wants to come here, LA is worried that they could potentially give up assets for him and he still leaves…Dallas has nothing to trade.

At the deadline we can offer Lopez, Brooks, cap relief AND draft picks. It’s a perfect rebuilding package.

You dont think Dwight sees the importance of a PG on the Knicks too. Even the Lakers are having issues with NO PG.

Only been able to watch the 2nd halves of games recently…

But I for one have been very impressed with Deton’s play as of late.
What I have seen, has been a more consistent effort on both ends of the ball, more focus, better defense, a bit of a better handle, and I even agree in the leadership department. His winces and whines are starting to turn into stare downs and glares.
Not to take anything away from Deron but I wonder how much Stevenson is really having a strong leadership and chemistry impact on this team on and Off the floor.

Keith Bogans

I was worried about the Keith Bogans signing, he started for the Bulls all last year and into the playoffs and for whatever reason he was waived and nobody picked him up?

I like what he does on defense on his FIRST DAY. And the article was right, his cut to the basket is something we haven’t seen all season.

Still waiting to see how he does but nice to have him along. Wonder if he’s big enough to play the 3 lol.

by Roccor420 on Feb 2, 2012 6:22 PM EST up reply actions

I keep hearing people say "We have a great package to offer ORL"

But my thinking is, unless the Lakers are seriously involved in trade talks (meaning they really want D12 and he will re-sign), why would we offer them anything more than Brook, expirings and picks. A real low ball offer.

I hope Billy is smart enough not to get desperate and just bid against ourselves to get a deal done. No reason to include Marshon unless he puts us over the Lakers in Orlando’s eyes.

Last year was different.

We were bidding against the Knicks and had to sweeten our offer.

If the Lakers arent seriously involved, no need to sweeten anything. We would basically be in the same position the Knicks were in for Melo BEFORE the Nets got involved.

It's already decided

Dwill and Dwight already know where Dwight will play next year. No one in any FO really has any say. Dwight holds ALL the cards. he can just say he won’t resign with a team and they will not trade for him. It’s up to Dwight.

Plan A all the way: Brook, Brooks, Dwill, Dwight and MKG

Love the attitude DWill

This team is playing more way better basketball pass few weeks. Hopefully they can keep it up again Minnesota and then beat the knicks.

Also, I know it’s a long shot, but it would be nice if Nets can waive DJames and sign KMart. He can help bolster our front line, especially the 2nd unit. But, that’s a pipe dream that won’t come true.

LMAO

is he just blatantly misquoting him here?

Magic center Dwight Howard spent the holiday weekend working on signing a two-year extension with the team, sources told Local 6 Sports Director David Pingalore late Monday.

Sources said the deal is all but signed by Howard.

On Monday, Howard held an impromptu Memorial Day party for his Twitter followers and fans.

“I just got tired of everybody asking me, ‘Where am I going to go? Are you going to stay?’ Everybody in Orlando is asking me,” Howard said. “So it was like, ‘You know what? I want everybody to get their minds off something that is not gonna happen.’”

that Dwight Howard’s FATHER was now representing him instead of Dan Fegan. He’s honestly the worst beat writer I’ve ever seen.

Why would Jameer go to Philly when they have Holiday?

We'll Be Fine.

by JerseysFinest. on Feb 2, 2012 9:53 PM EST up reply actions

Unless Lou Williams is headed to Orlando too

with Farmar. Sixers get a more traditional PG to back-up Holiday.

Anyway…at least someone came out with some D12 trade news – false as it may be.

by Versifiervt on Feb 2, 2012 10:49 PM EST up reply actions

there'd still be terrible for them

Jameer is pretty bad now, and Lou Williams is the one guy the Sixers have who’s not afraid to take a big shot.

by sheepareevil on Feb 2, 2012 10:55 PM EST up reply actions

yeah...just throwing it out there...

…for whatever reason, Iggy seems to always be on the trading block. Based on the Sixers poor attendance, that could be why….you’d think opposite since you’d think Iggy would be a draw but years of being on a bad team likely hurt the way he’ s perceived in Philly. My son lives in Philly and he says the sixes are hardly spoken about among him and his friends.

Anyway, maybe Lou Williams goes to the Nets and ends up being our starting SG, while MarShon ends up going to Philly.

So Iggy/BLo + future 1st rounder to Orlando. Marshon + future pick to Philly. Lou and D12 to Nets or some kind of deal like that? I know we’d still have to modify this trade to free up room to take on Turk’s or JRich’s salary.

by Versifiervt on Feb 2, 2012 11:01 PM EST up reply actions

I lived in Philly for four years

and it’s true that no one talked about the Sixers as much, or went to their games. The city has had three other teams that in that span have been contenders at one point or another, so they didn’t really have time or energy to support a mediocre team I guess, especially for basketball, which is almost always a 4th place sport in Philly.

But the Sixers are legit good this year, and should get a high seed in the East. Iguodala was on the trading block when it seemed the Sixers wouldn’t get above a 7 seed, but now that they’re playing at a high level, I dont’ think there’s any way they trade him now.

by OTRWaldo on Feb 2, 2012 10:03 PM EST up reply actions

It’s crazy how strong of a negative effect playing on the Nets has for players in terms of perception around the league.

Williams has gone from a top-three point guard to a player that many people forget to name when going through their top-twenty. (For the record, I think he’s somewhere between 10 and 13.)

by Dopeness on Feb 2, 2012 10:16 PM EST up reply actions

Rondo's stats are excellent though.

15 pts – (.517 FG%)
9.4 assists
5.1 rebounds
1.7 steals

And he’s a much better defender than Deron.

Mark Ejnes established his firm in 2008 after practicing at Frank Gehry’s office in Los Angeles for
five years. As Senior Associate there, Mark worked on Brooklyn Atlantic Yards, an eight million
square-foot development on nine city blocks in downtown Brooklyn. The project comprises 17
buildings of commercial, residential and retail development as well as Barclays Center Brooklyn,
an indoor professional basketball/hockey arena for the New Jersey Nets. Mark initially worked on
the master plan for the entire complex and then concentrated on the design of the arena seating
bowl (capacity 20,400). He assumed the role of Project Manager/Project Architect on the "arena
block" portion of the project consisting of the arena and the four attached commercial and
residential towers, including the 710,000 square-foot "Miss Brooklyn" office tower – the iconic
element of the master plan as well as the entire borough of Brooklyn.

New one is about 18,200.

Or will there be another Howard story, this time from Fred Kerber?

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/nets/confidence_game_Z5xm0JzBV8JNgGZ9hN13QI?CMP=OTC-rss&FEEDNAME=&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

In this story, Kerber says MarShon is sure to be included:

…But bright lights, Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov’s global platform and the fact Williams is Howard’s good friend are tough to resist. The Nets have waited patiently, cringing when center Brook Lopez broke his foot (though they believe he will return strong).
… Lopez, enough draft picks to choke a mule plus pieces that almost certainly would include MarShon Brooks, could form the package to help them pull off a deadline deal for Howard. If they do, they could re-sign Howard to a five-year deal worth over $100 million this summer.
…. So they feel good about their position. Again.

Last night the notorious Orlando TV reporter said he heard something about Phila. being 3rd team involved and would send Iggy to ORL (with Lopez).

@pinglocal6 had said over a month ago that DH was ready to sign a contract extension.

I don’t doubt that Phila. might be doing due diligence regarding trading Iggy and his contract, but this might not be the best time.
Why would Phila. help the Nets leapfrog over their rival?
However, at least its a good sign that @pinglocal6 is hearing that Nets are back in the DH trade picture, when he has no motivation to say that.

In other news, China is back from New Year's Holiday and has demanded that KMart's return to NBA be delayed until end of Chinese team's season.

Per Woj, it looks like it would be another 2 weeks (assuming they miss the playoffs), before Martin can sign – likely with LAC who can offer mini-mid level.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-wojnarowski_kenyon_martin_nba_020212

Knicks less interested in Martin now, but could offer JR Smith a mini-mid level – in 2 weeks. Knicks were fortunate to get Baron Davis to sign for the Vet Min instead of mini-mid level.

JR could be more difficult for D’Antoni to handle than Nate Robinson, but with his job on the line, he might want to give JR a try.
