Brooks Survives in Rookie Ranks
MarShon Brooks is hurt and the Nets are keeping his return date as secret as the White House keeps nuclear codes. But most of those who rank rookies still write good things about him...but worry about his broken pinkie toe.
Drew Packham drops him from #3 to #4 in its rankings, based mainly on his injury, noting, "it's really not fair to him. He is out with a broken pinkie toe on his foot and the Nets aren't saying how long he'll be out." Sebastian Pruiti of Grantland thinks it's fairer to simply mark him down as "injured."
Doug Smith, the respected Toronto-based writer, puts Brooks ahead of everyone but Kyrie Irving. "For a guy chosen 25th overall and traded draft night from Boston to the Nets, he’s had a significant impact," Smith writes.

I see no reason why Kemba Walker should be above Brooks. None.
I’m not sure why Kemba Walker, Brandon Knight and Iman Shumpert are on these lists at all. Knight has been way below replacement level and the other two just above/below. These are NOT good players. 20+ games into the season, they’ve really hurt their teams. If you need any confirmation, just look at their team’s records. If any of them were playing as well as Brooks, their teams would’ve won two or three additional games based on the minutes Knight and Walker are getting.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
Kemba hurt his team?
Knight hurt his team?

Yeah
Total shocker.
BTW, Sebastian keeps talking about playing Shumpert at SG… apparently, he missed Shumpert’s .441 TS% and his horrendous college numbers.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
Didn’t D’Antoni say the Shumpert PG experiment was over?
This was one of the more obvious flaws in his game and as a draft prospect, he just completely lacks a position.

He just can't score.
And he can’t shoot. Moving him to shooting guard isn’t going to help matters.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
He can’t pass or handle the ball either. He’s a complete liability on offense

I think he'll be less turnover prone as he gains experience. He does have decent vision.
But, right now? Yeah. Completely.

Oh... you were being sincere?
I’m sorry. My mistake.

See the red numbers? Red is bad. It means your team would’ve been better off if you hadn’t played at all.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
Really? The PISTONS and BOBCATS would be better off? I don’t think so.

Depending on who replaces him, possibly. Without Ellis, who starts? Rush? Nate? In that case, no. Overall I’m not a big fan of Monta’s game and I don’t think it’s particularly conducive to winning, but if you just flat out remove Monta from the team, no, I don’t believe they’d be winning more games than they have.

It's all about who they replace him with...
If they replace him with a better player then they’ll win more games.
It’s not that hard to find a better player than Monta Ellis, either.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
Right, but going back to the original point, I just don’t see how the Pistons or Bobcats would be any better off. If you were putting them on teams like the Bucks or Rockets or something along those lines and telling me they’d be better off, I could see that, but when teams are as awful as Detroit and Charlotte, I don’t think they’d be any better off without those guys.

I never said those teams shouldn't play those players. They certainly should play them.
I said those players haven’t played well and don’t deserve the attention they’re getting because their performance doesn’t warrant it.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
Okay. What if we were to replace him with Courtney Lee? Do you think that the Warriors would be better or worse?
The improved ball movement would be big, as would the improved defense. Overall I think that team scores a few less points per game (though not as much as the swap of Lee-Ellis would suggest considering the improved ball movement), and allow less points per game. Wouldn’t be a huge change either way, I think that’d be a fairly lateral move

Umm...
Umm - just a question how is this calculated? Is this from that Wages to Wins book? The problem with that is a constantly losing team will have most players on that team recording a L. So any rookie on a bad team will get negative wins because it basically sums all the players into the wins to make it “accurate.” So it’s a bit unfair to say they are “negative”.

Simply, WP48 gives you the player's production relative to the league average at his position.
That’s why Greg Monroe is good and Brandon Knight is really bad despite the fact that they play for the same team and have played similar minutes.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
how can they hurt their team?
"What's Unbelieveable is Believeable Now"
How are they hurting their teams?
their teams are just horrendous, Knight and Walker are the only reason why you would watch those teams. If Brooks would be on either team they would still stink.

Their teams are just horrendous
The players I mentioned are partially to blame for that. If they played like Rubio, Irving, Brooks, etc., their teams wouldn’t be as horrendous.
Oh pissing blimey there's jam coming out of the walls!
Yeah
I should get out of my mother's basement and watch a game once in a while.

We never said they played like Rubio, Irving or Brooks
if everyone played like them then Brooks would be average.

Judging by that picture, looks like this team is depressed out of its mind and full of hatred.

Dunno what happened
But we went from a dejected Deron who wouldnt join his team in the huddle, grumpy interviews, and a list of his teams going public… And almost right at that point there was a sudden change in his attitude and play.
Maybe he got a call from Dwight?
