As we get closer to the deadline, I can't help but feel more anxious and impatient than ever before. A few months ago, I was almost crucified for suggesting that the Nets fire Billy King if we fail to land Dwight. I still feel the exact same way, despite the widespread disagreement. It is frustrating for me to see quality free agents like Kenyon Martin and J.R. Smith being signed by the Clippers and the Knicks - two teams that have had ups and downs but are at least TRYING to better themselves. I understand that people will say that neither Kenyon nor J.R. are franchise changers or will definitely make teams closer to a Championship (some will probably argue the exact opposite) but it is disheartening to see other teams trying and our team WAITING.
I guess patience is a virtue (one I don't have) and I admire the optimism of people who are so confident that the future is bright - either because they think we will get Dwight or because they think our current core will eventually pay dividends. Needless to say, I find myself very stir crazy because I want something to happen for the Nets very badly.
The purpose of this post is to simply vent and see how others are feeling. Do you think it's best to wait or do you think there are some smaller - non Dwight affecting - moves we can make NOW? I realize that many of these themes have been touched upon on other threads, and I am not trying to get an ever feared warning by being repetitive, but I am genuinely curious how others feel as the trade deadline approaches and we are still in limbo.
