Relax

it’s a great story..I wish he didn’t play for the Knicks so I could root for him.

A few weeks back, there was a poll on the main page

concerning which was more valuable — the 2012 pick or MarShon. I voted for the 2012 pick, but like 80% of respondents disagreed with me. I wonder what the results would be like now.

2011-2012 season prediction: 22-44

And I'm fine with that. One of the original leaders of the "Dwight Howard, not Nono Hilario" movement.

I voted 2012 pick too because we might get a top 5 pick

I love Swag but he is not worth a top 5 pick in a loaded draft.

by Claud on Feb 11, 2012 9:12 PM EST up reply actions

I love marshon but this game made me realize hes expendible. Yea yea he just came back I know, but I dont think he fits. He is kobe-lite…just an iso black hole type player not really a team offense guy.

Again I love the guy but im definitely ok with shipping him out for dwight if necessary.

by jah_moon on Feb 11, 2012 9:17 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

No no no

When the ball goes through him there is good movement. Deron should not be putting up 20 shot a night ! That should be Brooks. I would like just one night where Deron facilitates the offense and Brooks is our SG.

by Zartan on Feb 11, 2012 9:52 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

What they need:

Better ball movement, more marshon involvement, better pick and roll defense (as always) and no more petro.

He is the one player that you can CLEARLY see him hurting the team on both ends of the floor

Avery is an awful coach.

Defense is trash, and he completely ruins the offensive flow by taking D Will out and putting Gaines in.

How do you sit your best player for 6 minutes, with this supporting cast in a close game. Boom the game is no longer close.

D Rose when healthy plays tons of minutes and his team is great.

But this is 2 terrible seasons in a row, granted we have had injuries but if Jerry Sloan, Greg Popovich or Phil Jackson had this team we would defend and run an offense that would work. we might only be 14-14 or something but this is unbearable to watch.

Stop blaming the roster… The Knicks are playing with their 2 major stars out and just Chandler and Lin (who you guys are saying is a fluke) so what gives… Replace Shelden with jared jeffries? Morrow with Novak? Let’s stop making excuses. They don’t have some absurdly better roster. So what else do you think it is

So lets recap

Petro dumb pass= turnover

Petro abused on defense.

Great!

by NetsKiNG on Feb 11, 2012 9:26 PM EST reply actions

I saw one play that the Nets were able to execute well and look like an NBA team.

ONE. They ran Horns, they had Deron at the top of the key. Sheldon and Petro and the elbows, and Shawne and Jordan at the corners. After a few passes, Deron came off a curl, got the ball, and immediately passed it down low for a Petro layup.

That’s basketball. It doesn’t matter who’s playing. If executed well, even Petro can get a layup out of it.

But 90% of the time, it’s Deron chucking away 3’s or long distance twos with too much time on the shot clock. This is why we lose games.

Avery needs to grow some balls and be a coach. Coach Deron and stop treating him like God. Tell him to stop taking bad shots and run a damn offense.

Not sure why people feel bad for deron

This putrid roster is partly his doing. He told King not to commit big dollars to proven NBA players because he wants his buddy dwight. Only problems are, A – the team is completely unwatchable right now. I can’t even watch this game. It pains me to see tumbleweeds blowing through the rock and guaranteed blowouts. and B – If they don’t succeed in their endgame, deron is leaving and leaving the nets organization to pick up the pieces.

Nets could’ve had Nene, Jamal Craw and Caron Butler out there. Instead we get Shawne Williams.

Now I’m not a delerious fan, but I’m sick and tired of seeing the Nets getting KILLED in the pick and roll game. A good coach would have changed this by now, but its the SAME THING EVERY SINGLE GAME. This is why they lose, because the pick and roll defense is awful.
