Revisionist History in Philly for King
Ron Burke of Comcast Sports Net writes Saturday about how the 76ers' success this season has a lot to do with Billy King's vision. When King was unceremoniously dumped in 2007 after eight years as GM, he was reviled for some of his free agent signings (Kenny Thomas and Samuel Dalembert) and trades (Chris Webber and Allen Iverson).
But Burke thinks it's time to honor King for his drafts. Three of the team's best players --All-Star Andre Iguodala, Lou Williams and Thaddeus Young-- were all King picks. "What he envisioned for the franchise up until 2007 finally is coming to fruition after more management changes, new ownership and Collins’ much-needed guiding hand," Burke writes.

In Billy we Trust!
If dwill can smile from the bench at this juncture, I can smile anywhere. Billy’s got this. Whatever “this” is…. He’s got it.
side bar:
If its ever even clOse to pertinent, can you title an article “a Dwight at the end of the tunnel”?
My iPhone gets the credit b/c it auto-corrected “lihgt” to “Dwight”

Udated future rankings
Nets move down the list. The only have Williams (who could leave), Brooks and Lopez.
I would add Morrow, Bogdanovic, cap space and new arena. I think the ranking is fair, but there is TONS of upside even though most are taking a wait-and-see approach.
i want to see the rest of that video
looking great
The title on twitter makes it seem like the story is about the netsdaily user Netsking lol

idk about you, but im not doing ten more years of a trashy team.
they got till august..
I know what you mean. What a weird article though…giving BK credit?
“he built an above average playoff team with no real chance to win the title!”
“it all came to fruition 5 years after he was fired!”
“All they had to do was also get Elton Brand, Jrue Holiday, and a coach!”
And we just throw his TERRIBLE signings under the rug?
Or how he dropped coaches like it was nobody’s business?
I guess if we win the championship in 5 years we can thank Thorn and Ratner for putting the pieces into play.
different
only lopez, morrow, and (maybe) farmar are significant pieces, remaining from thorn. But, outlaw and petro just cancel them out (lol)
The only thing i do credit thorn with, is clearing cap space, and accumulating draft picks. Really gave billy some flexibility. But in terms of core players, i dont think it relates to billys situation with philly.
+1
Clearing cap space and getting draft picks is was huge

i think brook lopez is the only net from that 12 and 70 team
And morrow farmar damion james and petro were picks of thorn
That are still on our team
Doubt farmar james and petro will be in brooklyn
by Pure baller15 on Feb 11, 2012 4:43 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
petro will find his way.
Just like he some how finds his way off the bench..
Hump was on 12-70 too
MarShon Brooks has the dreaded.

K-mart, RJ, Brook, Ryan Anderson were all good picks. Plus he did bring us J-Kidd
Not to mention, he did draft Michael Jordan
Some Nets Fan’s memories are so short lived.

What exactly is there to hate about lin?
He’s humble, he works hard, is a great role model, and an inspiration not to give up when the odds are stacked against you.
I can’t hate on somebody just because they’re ont he Knicks.

why does it matter what another team is doing?
the goal is to compete for a title? i care what miami chicago and those teams r doing, not new york.
when the nets rocked who cared what the knicks did? why measure up to that?
pacers won one playoff game last year. that’s better than knicks. mission accomplished?
We care what the Knicks do, and all though they aren’t ready to admit it yet, Knicks fans care what we do. We are about to enter into very rare territory of sports rivalries. Not only are we competeing for the biggest market in sports, but unlike the Yankees/Mets or Giants/Jets we are also division rivals. Nobody cared about the Knicks when the Nets were good, b/c they stunk. The problem is nobody cared about the Nets then either. It is about changing the culture, and that starts with becoming real rivals to the New York Knicks.

if we won the title and got swept by knicks...
all 4 games by 30 pt blowout…id be happy
if we win the nba title...
despite getting swept by NYK in regular season, im not gonna be like “well i dont like this ring we lost to the knicks.”
the goal is to be a championship contender. not worry about what they or anyone else do.

I have been emphasizing patience over the last few days to see if Lin keeps this up...
but say he does continue to contribute and maintain a starting role, he’d be a pain in the All-Star voting against Deron, wouldn’t he?
The reserves have been selected
Did you not know that?

remember Yao Ming
The coaches won’t have to vote Lin in
There is no doubt that Lin will have strong support from both Asia and the Asian American community
I don’t know if it will be quite the level of Yao though who represented China coming from the Chinese Basketball Association and winning Gold in International FIBA competition. I don’t think Lin as an Asian American can top Yao’s support as a Chinese National icon

You may not worry about how he will perform, but let's be honest...
would the Taiwanese/Chinese fans care if he has a drop-off in numbers? They’d still vote for him.
is swag playing tonight?

He looked rust and a bit winded
But he seemed to me to be running up and down the court just fine. Give hime 2 more games and I think he will be back in the starting lineup
i hope so we need him tonight
we need big games from dwill, farmar, ammo, swag and hump

they need to let him start at sf, morrow can not guard sf's, i dont like him farmar and d will in the same starting lineup

I dont know whos fault it would be Deron or Kings, Deron for not wanting to get a winning team now or King for being stupid enough to go through with the risk
I hope Deron got an assure from Dwight that he will come here
As of right now this team wouldnt compete in the d league

jordan williams is coming along
in jan. in 19.7 mins per game hes averaging 7.7 pts and 5.2 rebs, not bad for a reserve big man and only 5 total turnovers, which is big considering how many turnovers this team has had.

That is assuming he didn't learn anything from his time Philly
We will have to wait and see, because so far he seems to have maintained his reputation for drafting well bit as for free agent signing, we don’t really have much to go on because everything he has done has been to maintain flexibility for two superstars.

I know this was posted yesterday, but...
Jay-Z has had a big role in the new Nets logo, color scheme, and uniforms, all of which are slated to be unveiled this spring. I’ve already seen prototypes of the uniforms (actual protos, not just mock-ups or photos), and I can say two things about them: (1) They’re almost certainly not what you’re expecting, and (2) I like them.
good to see that one reviewer likes what he sees.
