Remember Gerald Green? That High Flying, Electric, Sky Walking SF that dunked his way into Nets fans hearts last season?
Remember where we found him? That's right, the D-League! With all this talk about needs and roster spots, and what we have, and what we need, I decided to do some digging.
At the end of the day, we have 1 available roster spot, that belongs to Josh Childress. I've said his name wrong in posts and not gotten called out for it at all. That's how forgettable this dude is. We're not waiving Blatche, and everyone else is guaranteed, so we have one spot to fill.
So the question becomes, what are our biggest needs? We need a back up for Gerald Wallace. We need a threat from Three. We need a better PnR defender, who won't hurt us offensively or on the boards at PF. We need someone on this team that can run fast, jump high, and fly.
We're not going to get all three of those, in one guy, because it's two different positions. I would argue the easier to find is the wing.
I'd like to introduce you to Gary Flowers:

This kid looks like he could be a Gerald Green type.

HE CAN ACTUALLY JUMP HIGHER AND IS QUICKER LATERALLY THAN GREEN!
But, Green is faster than him. Although, I'm not buying Flowers 4.14 second 3/4 court sprint time. I think that is a typo and he's actually a full second faster than that. Nobody runs a 4.14, let alone a player billed as an athletic forward.
This is a player that can shoot the 3, and athletically elevate us. This is the kind of guy we need to look for, instead of trading just to trade. Will he pan out? I don't know. But I'm willing to waive Childress and sign him for 10-20 days to figure that out.
