The Nets will be without their best defender for a third straight game.

The Nets announced Thursday afternoon that Gerald Wallace will miss his third straight game when they play the Magic in Orlando on Friday night. The good news is that Wallace, who sprained his left ankle at the end of Saturday's season opener, is out of his walking boot. But he did not practice on Thursday.

Marc J. Spears and Rod Boone both tweeted that the Nets small forward is unlikely to play either Magic game this weekend.

Josh Childress, also nursing a left ankle injury, did practice and is listed as questionable for Friday.
