Gerald Wallace to miss second straight game Wednesday vs. Miami Heat

The Nets will still be down a starter when they face the Heat on Wednesday.

The Nets announced Wednesday morning that Gerald Wallace and Josh Childress, who are both dealing with left ankle injuries, will both miss Wednesday's game in Miami.

Wallace missed Monday's loss to the Timberwolves after spraining his ankle late in Saturday's win over Toronto. Childress hasn't played since the preseason finale vs. New York.

Avery Johnson said he thinks Wallace's ankle injury is day-to-day and he'll probably go through shootaround in Orlando on Friday then see where he's at. Johnson was non-committal about who will start in his place. On Saturday, Keith Bogans filled in.

Childress said Friday is a possibility for his return to action. He has not played since October 24. Wallace declined to speak to reporters. "I’m not active," he said.

In interviews with the Nets press corps, Eric Spoelstra, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were all complimentary of the new Nets.

"They had an impressive offseason. There's no question about it," said the Heat coach. James, asked by Tim Bontemps if the Nets are now "cool," replied, "That state-of-the-art arena - that's cool. Jay-Z is cool. Deron Williams is cool. So I guess they've got that cool factor." Dwyane Wade said that the Nets are definitely a more attractive franchise now that they are in Brooklyn.

Meanwhile, Wade said the thing he most remembers about the Nets meeting with him in Chicago during the summer of 2010 was that Jay-Z wasn't there. The Nets minority owner had met with James in Cleveland, then flew to England for the beginning of his European tour, missing meetings with both Wade and Chris Bosh. He spoke with Wade by conference call.

Wade also said that just as Heat needed time in 2010, the overhauled Nets will too. He said Nets have to be patient, even if everyone outside is not.
